Continuing where Level 1 leaves off, Level 2 will introduce the student to the concepts of physics (and how they apply to animated motion) and body mechanics (the way joints and structure are utilized during basic locomotion: i.e. walking, running, jumping, etc.). We will also explore the concepts of adding emotion and acting to animation, further enforcing the idea of bringing a character to life.

The Drawing Course is aimed at introducing the different principles and techniques of drawing as an art form. Level 2 will turn the focus toward the character and design of humans and animals and applying those to original character designs. Taking the tools learned in Level 1, the student will focus on bringing life to the drawing through the concepts of gesture and expression.
Each week a new topic will be discussed and demonstrated with the student both drawing in class and on their own during the week (1 to 2 hours per week).

The Drawing Course Level 4 teaches the art of drawing the humans with an age-appropriate approach. The body will be broken down into specific parts but will also be looked at as a whole, with the goal to create realistic drawings of the clothed human figure. The student will draw both in class and on their own during the week (1 to 2 hours per week).

The main goal of the Introduction to Modeling class is to introduce the student to the concept of modeling, or 'sculpting' in Maya. The class must be taken with Maya 2017 or newer, but the concepts taught will be applicable to other 3D software, such as Blender, 3D Studio Max, or other such platforms. (Must have previous experience with Maya).
Introduction to Modeling comes with six hours of recordings, recorded online through Adobe Connect.
Taught by Todd Pilger with Chad Stewart.
The main goal of Introduction to Rigging is to introduce the student to the concept of rigging, or creating an animation control skeleton in Maya and attaching it to a character model. The class must be taken with Maya 2017 or later, but the concepts taught will be applicable to other 3D software, such as Blender, 3D Studio Max, or other such platforms. (Must have previous experience with Maya or other 3D software).
Introduction to Rigging comes with two hours of recordings, recorded online through Adobe Connect.

If you love animation, and you love to draw, then you’re going to love Flipbook Funpack! Flipbook Funpack combines a digital curriculum with a boxed activity set and gives you everything you need to enjoy learning about the wonders of animation. Think of it like an old ‘paint by numbers’ set, but this time you get to see your creation move!
The main goal of Level 1 is to introduce the student to the concept of animation. Not merely making something move across the screen, but rather making something come to life. We learn how to do this through The Principles of Animation, ideas and concepts that were identified and written down by 2 of the original Disney Animators. Each week we will examine and explain one principle and then put it into practice as the student will have an assignment to create their own animation during the week (3-5 hours per week). By the end of Level 1 the student will have created 4 animation projects.
